Wisdom. Strength.

This was the focus at the volunteer training for Camp Encourage, a children’s bereavement camp sponsored by State of the Heart Care. Living Music was brought in to provide training and self-care to the 27 camp volunteers.

The volunteers consisted of community members who are health professionals and/or educators with grief support experience and nursing, social work, and music therapy students from all over Ohio. These men and women were amazing individuals who showed so much kindness, care, and love towards each other and the children experiencing grief & loss.

Through drumming, guided meditation, guided imagery with music, and art-based discussion, we were able to dig deep into their experiences with death, grief, and children; helping them find their inner wisdom and strength for helping themselves and the campers that weekend.

The work these individuals are doing is amazing! What an honor to share that time with them.
